ATTENTION PARENTS AND GUARDIANS!

Dear Parents,

School Surveys have been mailed home. Every year, all parents, all teachers, and students in grades 6 - 12 take the NYC School Survey. The survey ranks among the largest surveys of any kind ever conducted nationally.

The Survey helps school leaders understand what key members of the school community say about the learning environment at each school. The information captured by the survey is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the school community about how to make the school a better place to learn

SLT meeting notes February 26, 2014

Hello Parents,

Attached below is the SLT meeting notes.
SLT meeting notes February 26.docx

Dear Parents,

As you are aware our Chancellors Regulations do not allow students to bring any electronic items to school. (This includes cell phones, video games, ipods, etc…) In order to enforce this regulation and keep distractions out of classrooms we are instituting a new policy at IS 126. Every morning during AM homeroom, teachers will be collecting cell phones and locking them away in their classroom. At the end of the day during PM homeroom, all cell phones will be returned. Any child that is picked up early and needs their phone we will go to the room and retrieve the phone. This is similar to how we handle student jackets and other belongings. If a child needs to contact a parent during the day, they have access to phones in the main office as well as other offices in the building.

In order for this policy to work we are expecting 100% cooperation. There will be no exceptions made. If you have any questions, you can contact the school at 718-274-8316.

Sincerely,

Alexander Angueira

Principal

DEAR PARENTS

As the School Shirt orders arrive, please be reminded that the INITIAL SHIRT that was given to the students in October IS NOT FREE.  The cost of the shirt is deducted from the order you placed.
Example:  If 3 shirts are ordered, when the order arrives the students will receive 2 because they already have 1.

Thank you,

Alexander Angueira

Principal

Uniform Policy

I.S. 126 has a uniform policy in place.  The students must wear a grey or black uniform shirt--which gets purchased at the school

Uniforms are to be worn everyday any student not wearing will be given something else to wear as a loaner for the day!

Dear Parents,

I hope that 2014 finds you and your family in good spirits and great health. I wish each and every one of you a healthy and prosperous New Year. Now that the holiday break has come and gone, we have a very busy January ahead of us.

In order to get the year off to the right start, please speak to your children regarding the wearing of uniforms and the use of electronic devices in our building. Uniforms are for sale in the Main Office. Students are not permitted to use cell phones and all other electronic devices  in our school building. Students who bring in cell phones and all other electronic items must submit them every morning to their homeroom teachers and they will get it back at the end of the day. We will continue to confiscate all electronic items that we find on students during the day.

I also want to let parents know that school begins at 8:00 am every morning, starting with Homeroom. Students will be allowed to enter through the school yard up until 8:05 am. At 8:06 am all students must enter through the main entrance and swipe their ID card to be marked late. Students who do not have ID cards risk being marked absent all day. Every student must have an ID card with them at all times.
